We have been collaborating with Whakatōhea to create an iwi-specific micro-credential, designed to incorporate the mātauranga they teach into formal learning for ākonga.

We provide investment advice to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) to inform funding decisions for the qualifications and credentials.

The toolkit is for Providers and Programme Developers to design and deliver training that equips learners with the skills they need to excel in the evolving food and fibre sector.

The December 2024 update provides a forecast of the year to 30 June 2025.

What does it take to create a food and fibre sector where rangatahi can thrive?

The first milestone of this project has been marked by the publication a literature review.

Adopting agritech is estimated to increase food and fibre export earnings by $9.7 billion.  

Since April 2023, Muka Tangata has been working to review and develop qualifications, standards and micro-credentials.

Muka Tangata has launched two simultaneous qualification development projects for all food and fibre Entry Level and Agriculture qualifications, standards and micro-credentials.

Just over 100,000 women work in our food and fibre sector, 1/3 of the total workforce.

The biggest source of new entrants in food and fibre industries represented by Muka Tangata are people who have not worked in the industry previously (industry changers).

Muka Tangata and the National Trade Academy (NTA) are working together to support good outcomes for learners.
