There is currently a glut in honey production across the industry which is resulting in profitability issues for businesses. There are a few reasons for this, including the previously high profitability of the industry leading to an increase in producers. However, the impact of COVID-19 and an oversupply of honey has meant that consumer demand is not keeping up with supply. This has been compounded by increasing running costs for businesses (fuel, treatments, hive equipment, feed etc.).
