New Emerging Leadership in People, Food and Fibre Industries micro-credential

Muka Tangata is proud to share that the Emerging Leadership in People, Food and Fibre Industries micro-credential has been successfully approved and listed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and is now available to be developed into a programme for ākonga (learners) by accredited providers.

The micro-credential’s development has been informed by the by Food and Fibre Centre for Vocational Excellence research and will support a leadership ecosystem for the sector.

“We know that there is an urgent need to increase leaders across Aotearoa New Zealand’s food and fibre sector,” says Chief Executive Jeremy Baker.

“This micro-credential addresses that need and underpins our commitment to supporting workforce development and upskilling in the food and fibre industries. It’s vital that we continue to create talent progression pathways for emerging leaders to ensure a strong and skilled workforce.”

The Level 4 micro-credential will support people moving into leadership roles to become more confident in themselves and their work, enabling them to be reflective, resilient and versatile, while leading engaged and productive teams.

Muka Tangata worked alongside representatives and leaders across the people, food and fibre sector, and from other Workforce Development Councils to develop this micro-credential.

We’d like to extend our thanks to Horticulture representatives who initiated the project and to the many others who contributed their knowledge and skills to this mahi, ensuring the micro-credential is fit for purpose and will allow those looking to step into leadership roles the opportunity to progress within the people, food and fibre industries.
